Picket the Growth Summit!
September 16, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeWho says you can’t fight growth? The Growth machine, of course — big real estate developers, big road builders, big water grabbers, not to mention their minions (by the many) in public office.
They are pushing growth so fast in central Texas, they risk a “no-growth” collapse at our expense and the expense of critical water resources upon which millions of Texans already heavily rely.
The Growth Summit is where the real estate lobby will partake in a feeding frenzy over building the megalopolis between San Antonio and Austin. That’s right, Hays County, you’re in the cross-hairs. San Antonio Mayor Ivy “I’m-here-to-steal-your water” Taylor speaks along with Austin Mayor Steve “ain’t-growth-grand!” Adler.
Join us for an old fashioned picket line for just two hours outside this and prepare to fight the growth machine in your own community — we’ll help you.
Need a ride or more information? Call Linda at 512-657-2089 (or text her).
PARKING: Park in the parking lot next to the San Marcos Conference Center (it’s part of the same complex with Embassy Suites at IH-35 and McCarty in San Marcos) and look for the picketers. Or, again, call or text Linda.
Be sure to watch the video “I Oppose the San Antone Hose” on the right hand column of this page before you get to the picket line.
Linda – I will just be arriving back from Alaska then. I wish I could attend, but it is just not feasible. I wish you my best and if “King Henry I Cisneros” is there tar and feather him for me and a group of my classmates, who despise the little weasely rattlesnake.
Be sure and tell your friends, Bill!
I will do my best to ensure we have a good crowd of people at this. Water is the life blood of the entire planet. We must protect it.
Thanks Bryan! Watch for more on this real soon. We appreciate you and Tom Wakeley.
Hi, Linda,
My family are just back from up north and I am putting the word out among our friends
in College Station. We aren’t going to be be able to be in San Marcos but do look forward to
helping whenever we can.
Thanks Jennifer. Spread the word and let us know if you want to set up an event (we’ll do lots of the heavy lifting) in College Station. It’s been a while since we were there.
If you can, make a donation too — which will help our spreading the word with some facebook ads in targeted areas closer to the picket.
I’ll be there.
