Wake Up and Smell the Coffee, Bastrop, Lee, Milam and Burleson Counties!

Wake up and smell the coffee, y’all!

This event, co-sponsored by the League of Independent Voters, is to inform you about the big things going on with our water, our land and our organizing as citizens to get ahead of the costs of growth. Are we ready to unite with fellow citizens regardless of political persuasion? We better be.

If you believe that a house divided cannot stand — show up!

What’s on the agenda:

  •  In preparation for a CRITICALLY IMPORTANT hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 1:30 pm in the 21st District Courtroom of the Honorable Judge Carson Campbell, we will have a presentation from the Simsboro Aquifer Water Defense Fund and Environmental Stewardship on the impending legal battles between Bastrop & Lee County landowners and End Op L.P. (now Recharge). This has been two years in the making, folks! More here in the Bastrop Advertiser about this case. We will also have an update on Vista Ridge/The San Antone Hose. Be sure to read the recent additions on Vista Ridge to the News Section at LIV here.
  • Update on the waste transfer station in the Cedar Creek community off Hwy. 21 & FM 812. Steve Chamberlain will give us new information coming in daily on this project. More here in the Bastrop Advertiser. (You an also watch the video on this page at the League of Independent Voters).

Special thanks to Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape for his leadership on this. Local landowners will be sending a copy to Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Council members urging them not to sludge their neighbors in surrounding counties. More coming soon…..

We have been asked by friends in Milam and Burleson counties to let you know that there is a very important Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) night starting at 5:30 at Post Oak’s temporary office at 309 E. Ave. C, Milano, TX. Agenda here.
