Despite slow mail we have had EXCELLENT!!! response to BOTH petitions: #1 for more reasonable citizens petition requirements in the city of Bastrop and #2 to recall Bastrop Mayor Ken Kesselus.
What can you do? Help us reach out to city of Bastrop voters to let them know we’re still petitioning. Get the petitions to them or call us and we will. Due to mail unreliability, we are also now scheduling drop offs and pick ups. You can help deliver & pick up or go get folks to sign the petition or call us with your ideas. (We have the voter registration, so we can tell you who’s eligible to sign.)

Our response to Mayor Ken Kesselus: We have read and listened quietly and patiently to your response, Mayor Kesselus. After calling us liars and bullies, you continue to mince words about your brazen attempts to thwart Bastrop’s Ethics law (on multiple occasions) in support of your then employer, Mark Rose. You continue to defend appointing Joe Beal, a water marketer, to the Bastrop Economic Development Board and giving Beal a pass when he tried to deal water to Austin from the dais as a Bastrop City Councilman. You clearly bungled an attempt to violate the Texas Open Meetings Act. You cannot even muster enough decency to apologize to the City Manager and the city’s attorney that you have publicly berated. You are their boss and the crisis of confidence in the city of Bastrop is squarely due to your own shortcomings. Get it together Mr. Kesselus, or leave.
